Jotham S. Stein
Jotham S. Stein is an experienced attorney who has represented individuals and companies in a wide variety of business, employment and contract negotiations. Mr. Stein’s experience extends to deals of all sizes, from transactions valued at less than one hundred thousand dollars to those valued at more than one hundred million dollars. Mr. Stein has served as part-time General Counsel of a high-technology Silicon Valley company. In addition, Mr. Stein recently authored Executive Employment Law: Protecting Executives, Entrepreneurs and Employees, which was published in June 2011 by Oxford University Press.
Mr. Stein is also an experienced litigator. Mr. Stein has represented clients in state and federal courts, before state and federal agencies and in arbitration. Mr. Stein has been counsel in complex multi-million dollar litigation matters and in smaller individual and business cases.
Mr. Stein graduated cum laude from Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. A rower at Princeton, Mr. Stein was a member of the first Heavyweight Crew in 49 years to represent Princeton at the Henley-on-Thames regatta. He was also an Outdoor Action “Leader,” responsible for leading hiking and canoeing trips in the wilderness.
Mr. Stein is a graduate of Stanford Law School. While at Stanford, he was a teaching assistant for Stanford University’s Departments of Political Science and Education. He taught “Major Issues in American Public Policy,” “Civil Rights, Civil Liberties, and Poverty Issues in the United States,” and “International Politics.”
After graduating from Stanford Law School, Mr. Stein joined Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati, in Palo Alto, California as an associate. Mr. Stein was a Lecturer/Instructor in Legal Research and Writing at School of Law (Boalt Hall), University of California at Berkeley during 1993-1994. Mr. Stein established the Law Offices of Jotham S. Stein in 1995.
With law offices in Silicon Valley and the Chicago Metropolitan Area, Mr. Stein is admitted to practice in California, Illinois, New York, and the District of Columbia as well as the United States Supreme Court, United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh, Ninth and District of Columbia Circuits and several United States District Courts. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Palo Alto Area Bar Association, Santa Clara County Bar Association, San Mateo County Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association.
Outside of work, Mr. Stein is an avid traveler. He has visited more than sixty countries on six continents. He has also competed in national athletic events. In 1986, he placed sixteenth in the United States Luge (sledding) Championships, and, in 1988, Mr. Stein rowed in the United States Olympic Trials. Currently, Mr. Stein participates in indoor and outdoor adult soccer leagues.
Benjamin Price
Benjamin Price is an associate attorney at The Law Offices of Jotham S. Stein’s Chicago area law office. Mr. Price works in a variety of areas, including litigating disputes and advising on employment issues. Mr. Price graduated magna cum laude from University of Texas at Dallas with a Master’s of Science in Applied Economics and a double major in Economics and Finance and Literary Studies. His love for language took him to Guadalajara, Mexico where he studied Spanish as an undergraduate. After graduation, he interned for a year at the German Institute for Economics Research in Berlin, Germany.
Mr. Price received his law degree from the Boston University School of Law. While earning his degree, Mr. Price served as Director of Client Counseling and Negotiation Competitions and as Article Editor for the Boston University School of Law’s International Law Journal. Mr. Price externed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Riverside, California under Judge Meredith Jury.
Mr. Price is admitted to practice in California and Illinois as well as in the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and Chicago Bar Association.
Tammie Meek
Tammie Meek works part-time for the Law Offices of Jotham S. Stein in its Chicago area office. Ms. Meek is licensed to practice law in New York State and the District of Columbia, but not in Illinois or California. Consequently, Ms. Meek does not practice law in either California or Illinois. Rather, she assists in the drafting of documents for Law Office of Jotham S. Stein attorneys and provides research and writing assistance as well. With her prior experience as a corporate and securities attorney (in jurisdictions where she is licensed) and her unwavering commitment to meeting client needs, Ms. Meek compliments the Law Office of Jotham S. Stein’s practice.
Ms. Meek earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan where she majored in political science and philosophy. After working as a consultant in Philadelphia, she returned to school to pursue her graduate degrees. Ms. Meek earned her J.D. from Cornell Law School and M.B.A. from Cornell’s Johnson School of Management. While there she was awarded the Olin Scholarship for the study of Law and Economics and served as a Managing Editor for the Cornell Journal of Law & Public Policy.
Ms. Meek began her legal career with the law firm of Fried Frank in their D.C. office focusing on both corporate transactional and securities work. She has experience (in jurisdictions where she is licensed) representing buyers and sellers in multi-million dollar transactions, including preparing consulting and non-compete agreements, as well as counseling individuals, boards of directors and corporate entities on securities law issues. Ms. Meek relocated to Illinois when her husband accepted a position at Fermi National Laboratories.
Ms. Meek enjoys the summers in Illinois and volunteers for multiple Chicago-area non-profits.
